2010 DIRT SPRINT RULESPersonal Safety Helmets Must be of the latest three (3) Snell approved, full head/face coverage competition type. Must be SA rated. Driving Suits Minimum two layer, name brand, SFI rated suit or single layer with nomex underwear. We recommend three layer suits for superior protection. Seat Belts Must be securely attached to the car and used at all times. Metal to metal latches only. Five (5) point harness, shoulder harness and submarine belt are required. Belt dates must not be over three (3) years old. Neck Braces Mandatory. Must be SFI rated, name brand brace. Gloves Mandatory and must be SFI, name brand type. Shoes Mandatory and must be SFI, name brand type. We recommend the high-top style or nomex socks under the low cut style. Arm Restraints Mandatory and must be adjusted to adequately keep drivers hands below the top of roll cage. Arm restraints are to be positioned on the forearm area for best protection. General Car Specifications Firewall There must be a metal firewall between driver and engine. Roll Cage Must be at least 1 .062 thickness, 1 1/8 .065 thickness, or 1 Ό .065 thickness and made of chromoly steel or equivalent. Roll cage must be a minimum of 3 above drivers helmet. All edges must be rounded, no square or pointed edges allowed. There must be a cross brace installed behind the seat to support the shoulder harness. All cars must have a solid axles, front and rear (no a-arms or independent suspension). Bumpers Cars must have bumpers extending beyond the front and rear tires. Nothing may extend beyond a tangent line from the outside edge of tires to the bumpers. No sharp corners or design as to hook or damage. Nothing may extend beyond the outside edge of the tires or wheels, whichever is widest. Nerf Bars All cars must be equipped with nerf bars that do not extend beyond the outside edge of tire or wheel, whichever is widest. Tread Width Maximum tread width is 64 outside to outside, minimum is 32 from center to center of tires. Wheelbase Maximum wheelbase is 70, minimum is 50, center of front axle to center of rear axle. Rear Wheel Drive Only. No front wheel drive cars allowed. Bodies All cars must have complete bodies and be sprint car in design. Bodies must be made of aluminum, fiberglass or high impact plastic. Fuel Tanks All fuel tanks must be equipped with a one way check valve designed to prevent spillage of fuel from the fuel tank vent in the event of a rollover. Numbers All cars must have legible numbers on nose, nose wing (if applicable), each side of tail tank, each side and top of wing (if applicable). If track scorers have an issue with reading numbers and/or scoring a car, they will promptly advise driver/owner and recommend a temporary solution for the evening. Ballast All ballast must be firmly attached. No liquid or loose ballast such as water, rocks, sandbags, etc. will be allowed. Belly Pans Mandatory and must extend from 6 in front of drivers feet to the front edge of seat. Belly pans must be mounted with dzus fasteners or bolted on. Chain Guards Mandatory and must cover the chain from the furthest front exposed point to the center of rear axle. They must be of sufficient strength and width so as to protect the driver. Top Wings Mandatory in all winged classes to enter a race. Wings may not extend beyond the outside edge of rear tires. All wings must have a rolled edge no sharp edges. Wing must be installed so as not to obstruct drivers vision regardless of wing position. Front wing (optional) may not extend past inside edge of tires. Fuel Methanol, Ethanol, Gasoline, and Racing Gasoline. Absolutely no performance enhancing additives allowed. Anyone caught running hot fuel will be indefinitely disqualified. Absolutely NO pressurized gases (nitrous, etc.) allowed. Radio Communication Strictly prohibited on the track. Rearview Mirrors Strictly prohibited. Chain Driven All engines must remain chain driven off of the original countershaft. Tires/Wheels Any tire and wheel combination may be used, but tires may not exceed twenty-two and a half inches (22 ½) in height. Upright center engine cars (26.5) in height. Transponders- Must be mounted on or near front axle. 270 600 Sportsman Class Age Drivers must be at least twelve (12) years of age. Weight 270s Minimum 600 pounds 600s Minimum 750 pounds car and driver. Engine 270s - Any single cylinder two-cycle motorcycle engine no larger than 271cc. No forced induction (no turbo, super charging, nitrous, etc.). 1 Carb. 600s Any 4 multi cylinder, motorcycle engine 600cc or less. Carburetors only, No fuel injection, No forced induction (no turbo, super charging, nitrous, etc.) Tire 600s Right rear tire must be a minimum 45 durometer compound. Tire durometer check should be done at least fifteen (15) minutes after the races to allow for cool down. 270s tires open. Wings No wings of any type are permitted (front or top). No onboard adjustments of any type are permitted. 600 Restricted Class Age Minimum age is ten (10) years old. Weight Minimum car and driver weight is 750 pounds. Engine Any 4 multi cylinder, motorcycle engine 600cc or less (no 636cc engines). No forced induction (no turbo, super charging, nitrous, etc.). Carburetors Carburetors or injection system must have restrictor plates purchased from the UMSRA or NMMA and may not be altered in any way. Tire Right rear tire must be a minimum 45 durometer compound. Tire durometer check should be done at least fifteen (15) minutes after the races to allow for cool down. Starter All engines must have a cockpit operated electric starter, lever manual clutch and on board motorcycle battery capable of starting an engine. Modified 600cc Class Age Minimum driver age is fourteen (14) years old. Weight Minimum car and driver weight is 750 pounds. Starter All engines must have a cockpit operated electric starter, lever manual clutch and on board motorcycle battery capable of starting an engine. Engine Any 4 multi cylinder, motorcycle engine 637cc or less. No forced induction (no turbo, super charging, nitrous, etc.). Tire Right rear tire must be a minimum 45 durometer compound. Tire durometer check should be done at least fifteen (15) minutes after the races to allow for cool down. 250 Ninja Sprint Class Age Minimum driver age is ten (10) years old Weight Minimum car and driver weight is 680 pounds. Starter - All engines must have a cockpit operated electric starter, lever manual clutch and on board motorcycle battery capable of starting an engine. Engine 2007 and older Stock Appearing 250cc Kawasaki Ninja. Max 250cc. No forced induction (no turbo, super charging, nitrous, etc.). Electronics Coils & box must remain stock. Carburetors Stock except jets Fuel Gas only, no additives. Width 48 center to center of tires. 250 Ninja Restricted Sprint Class Age Minimum driver age is ten (8) years old Weight Minimum car and driver weight is 640 pounds. Starter - All engines must have a cockpit operated electric starter, lever manual clutch and on board motorcycle battery capable of starting an engine. Engine 2007 and older Stock Appearing 250cc Kawasaki Ninja. Max 250cc. No forced induction (no turbo, super charging, nitrous, etc.). Electronics Coils & box must remain stock. Carburetors Stock except jets & must have restrictor plates purchased from the UMSRA they may not be altered in any way. Plates must be in carb boot towards head (boot may be any length). Fuel Gas only, no additives. Width 48 center to center of tires.
